Carlton Male Voice Choir Festival Concert, with special guests Cantamus, is on Saturday 25th April, 7.15 at the marvellous Albert Hall in Nottingham. It provides the showcase for the choir to unveil its new repertoire, which this year ranges from Bizet to Cole Porter and from Mascagni to Pharrell Williams. The concert presents the best in young musical talent including the winner of the Carlton MVC Music Makers Trophy for 2015 and raises funds which enable us to support a number of charities, many of which are local and small-scale, throughout the following year. We are thrilled to be sharing the stage with the internationally renowned, multi-award winning Cantamus Choir on a night of music to remember. Tickets are £12.50 and are available through our website www.carltonmvc.org or by calling 0795 176 9631 or 01158 440158. Email tickets@carltonmvc.org

Carlton Male Voice Choir Festival Concert 2015

Cantamus Girls Choir, founded in Mansfield in 1968, is internationally renowned, having gained 28 first prizes in international choral festivals. They have also won 8 Grand Prix, including the Grand Prix at Riva del Garda, BBC Choir of the Year (twice), Choir of the World (Llangollen Eisteddfod) and championships at the World Choir Olympics (Bremen 2004 and Xiamen 2006). In July 2013 they competed in the First European Choir Games in Graz where they gained three Gold medals and Championships in the Youth Equal Voice Class and the Sacred Class. Thirty overseas tours have been undertaken, including Japan, China, Israel, USA and Canada (twice), Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, Estonia and Finland. Many girls pursue careers in music and a number are now employed as soloists or chorus members in the Opera Houses of the World. For almost half a century critics have acclaimed the choir’s performance and impeccable technique. Composer and music presenter Howard Goodall said: “Only a very few musicians and performers manage to combine absolute, world-class excellence of technique and style with the ability to express themselves from the bottom of their hearts. Cantamus, miraculously, is amongst the select few”. Our audience at the Albert Hall on 25th April are guaranteed, with Cantamus as our special guests, to hear choral singing of the highest order.
