After a successful week long continental tour, visiting Ypres, Eibergen, and Amersfoort, the choir has returned in good spirits ready for the challenges ahead, including two concerts in July. The tour included visits to Ghent (where it rained a lot!) and to Bruges, but the main centres were Ypres, where the choir performed at the Last Post Ceremony at the Menin Gate, and Amersfoort where the choir performed along with the Amersfoort Mannenkoor. ( Male Choir)

Before that, the choir visited the border town of Eibergen where they joined with the Eibergs Mannenkoor in an unusual open air theatre where it didn’t rain! ( thankfully.)

Less formal singing also occurred at the war  cemeteries of Tyne Cot WW1 and the Arnhem Oosterbeek WW2 paratroopers cemetery. Also several times in the pub!

Whilst singing at the Menin Gate ceremony was something ‘a bit special’ for the choir to be involved in the concerts with Eibergs MK and Amersfoort MK were both excellent and will be remembered by all that were there.

Congratulations to all concerned and a big thank you to John and Pat Warsop who were the main organisers of the trip.

I’m sure the choir will be looking forward to the return visit of the Amersfoort Mannenkoor next year.
