Introducing Ian Watts, our new Musical Director, looking happy and relaxed at his first rehearsal on 7th September. Ian is Director of Music at Linby cum Papplewick churches where he founded and conducts the four part mixed choir Laudamus as well as a fifty strong choir formed for special events such as a performance of ‘The Crucifixion’. He has a passion for the organ, having recently been elected President of the Nottingham and District Organists Society. Ian also runs a Music Company with its own recording studio producing music for sale. This versatile musician has performed in various pop bands since 1985, including travelling the world with tribute bands The Beatalls, The Silver Beatles (as Paul McCartney) and now The Kinx. Born in Pontypridd and with a father Peter who was a bass and founder-member of Radcliffe On Trent Male Voice Choir, it could be said that Ian has male voice choirs in his blood, yet this is his first position with a male choir. All of us in Carlton are thrilled to be working with Ian in the belief that his array of talents and fresh approach will take us forward and add to the many achievements of his predecessor Terry.
