Saturday 1st of October and Ian Watts our new Musical Director conducted his first ‘gig’ with the choir.  Ian took over as MD at the start of September and after four rehearsal sessions conducted the concert at St Leonard’s Community Centre, Wollaton in aid of the University of Nottingham’s Children’s Brain Tumour Research Centre.

Ian is no stranger to the stage as a performer with the pop tribute band The Kinx, but this was his first venture as conductor of a male voice choir.

The audience was treated to a varied programme from the choir’s repertoire, including Let There Be Light, Let It Be Me, The Wonder of You and The Lost Chord.

Making her return appearance on the night was former Music Maker winner, Jennifer Ruth-Adams who sang a variety of operatic pieces and songs from the musicals.

Former MD Terry Moore performed a ceremonial handing over of the Choir Pennant and wished Ian well in his new role as MD.  Terry and Ian also conducted the audience in a round of London’s Burning!

It was a joyous night in front of a large enthusiastic audience, an evening to pay tribute to the many magnificent years of service to the choir by its outgoing Musical Director, to herald in a new era and to wish Ian an equally happy and successful time with the choir as Terry.
