The title ‘How Can I Keep From Singing?’ is inspired by an arrangement of the traditional American hymn by our MD, Terry Moore. We also include tracks in which the choir collaborates with guests – a combined number with the scintillating 40s-style close harmony trio that are the Siren Sisters; a piano duet featuring accompanist Roger Holland playing alongside the talented 2014 Carlton MVC Music Makers Trophy winner, Isata Kanneh-Mason; and our 2013 ‘Music Maker’ Laura Roberts singing two contrasting songs with the choir. In this year of commemoration, we also feature a group of songs associated with ‘the Great War’, including a brand new composition by local musician Robert Steadman based on the poem ‘In Flanders Fields’ and a medley of ‘Songs From The First World War’ with hearty participation from our 700-strong Festival Concert audience! If you were there, you must have this CD, because you’re on it! ‘How Can I Keep From Singing?’ is great value – 21 tracks, 75 minutes!
