A major development for 2012 is a change to the award of the “Music Makers” Trophy.
Initially, and for a number of years, this was awarded to a student from Claredon College. More recently the winner was selected from the students at Bilborough College. The winning student has received the trophy and performed at our Festival Concert in April. You can read more about the history of the award on other pages of the website.
However it has been a long term aim with this award, that we should make it available to more music students from across Nottinghamshire. Not only this, but also to offer a monetary prize that would help the winning student with their musical studies. We are now able to announce that, with the financial backing of a local benefactor, we have now put into place a new scheme for selecting a student. This competition has the backing of the Music Support services in the City and the County and we hope that talented musicians will be encouraged to enter by their schools, teachers and parents.
Unfortunately there can only be one winner, but with £500 to help them we hope they will continue to develop musically and will go on to achieve success artistically.
