Samantha, performing at the Festival Concert

Samantha has had a passion for singing from a young age and was chosen on many occasions to sing solos in end of year and Christmas productions throughout her school life. She auditioned and gained a training place in the world renowned Cantamus Girls Choir when she was eleven.  In 2005 she progressed into the main choir and was able to join them on their tour to China, where they took part in the World Choir Olympics and gained two Gold medals and the ‘Olympic Champion’ title. She has sung in many more competitions with the choir since, travelling throughout the UK, Europe and a two week tour to Malaysia.

Samantha is currently in her second year at Bilborough College Studying for A-Levels in Music, History, Drama and Theatre Studies which she will complete in June. She has also obtained an ABRSM grade 7 in singing and is due to take her grade 8 this summer. She has performed in several music festivals to gain experience and currently holds two prizes for 2009.

Her passion for music and musical theatre has strengthened over the last few years and, with her high grades, has led her to receive offers from many prestigious universities including Durham, Bath and York and a reserve offer from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, to study for an honours degree in Music. Samantha hopes to complete her degree and develop a successful career in the classical music industry.

UPDATE: Samantha has obtained an ABRSM grade 8 in singing and is currently in her 1st year at The University of York studying for an honours degree in Music. She has performed in several music festivals to gain experience and currently plays an active role in the YUSU’s Opera Society and the prestigious York University Chamber Choir. In the future, Samantha hopes to complete her degree at York and begin a post-graduate degree at a conservatoire to enable her to develop a successful career in the classical music industry.
