It takes in excess of £10,000 each year just to run the choir. Our costs include the hiring of a rehearsal room, honoraria for our Musical Director and Pianists, insurances, general running (postage, stationery and office equipment), and the purchase of music for each member of the choir. Each year, the choir learns a new repertoire of about fifteen songs.

Funding is therefore an ongoing problem that we have to face and our main source is through concert and membership fees. The membership fees are enhanced by Gift Aid, which brings an extra 20% from the Inland Revenue.

Patronage

The choir is active in the local community, and undertakes a number of concerts throughout the year for local charities and supports local community events. If you would like to be associated with this work why not become a Patron.

We are in need of individuals, organisations, or businesses who would like to be Patrons of the choir. As a Patron you will receive information about Concerts and Events and will be identified as supporting the choir in our Concert Programmes and Quarterly Newsletter.

Please support us by contacting our Publicity Officer.

Sponsorship

The choir was founded in 1908, and during those many years we have been fortunate to be supported through sponsorship by a number of businesses and individuals. We are immensely grateful for their support each year at our Festival Concert in April and at our Christmas concert in December. They have also supported one-off concerts such as our Centenary Celebration concert in 2008.

We are always looking for organisations, businesses or individuals who feel they would like to support the choir. In return for your support we will give you publicity in our concert programmes either by thanking you for sponsoring the concert or by providing advertising in the programme.

If we are to continue to hold major concerts at prestigious venues then we do need help via sponsorship. If you think that you would like to be associated with the choir through sponsorship on a regular or one-off basis please contact our Publicity Officer.

Friends of Carlton Male Voice Choir

Since 2004 we have had a formal organisation called the Friends of CMVC. This is a group of supporters of the choir who want to keep in touch with choir activities and concerts. For a small fee each year the Friends receive a copy of the Quarterly Newsletter, advanced notice of future concerts and events, and a small subsidy on the price of a ticket for the annual Festival Concert. They are welcome at all choir concerts and events and if sufficient places exist they can join us on overseas visits, and tours in this country.

If you would like more information about our Friends’ group please contact Jean Judson, who will be pleased to talk to you about membership and furnish you with a membership application form.
